Urgh... Can't Get Myself To Update... Yet...

Feeling really down now for many reasons...

Feeling emotionally, and mentally, and even morally worn out by circumstance.

The sky is not falling on my world yet and I'm already feeling this way.

A pity...

I just can't get myself to update just yet... Going through all those photos and bloggers seem to screw them up for me later on.

Well... I hope I can find...

Just hope...

Bangkok 2008 Day 45-55: Short Update

Hey all,

I got tons of photos to be uploaded. Till then, below are what's to come:

Day 45- Thai colleagues took us for sightseeing at neighboring provinces. Including a floating market. This is also the day that I found... and in a way lost... something which I shan't discuss... But it certainly rouse a feeling inside...

Day 53- 13th of April was my birthday! And it also marks the 1st day of Thailand New Year aka Songkran Festival aka Water Festival! What a lovely coincidence. We took a stroll at Kao San road where all the water splashing was to be had in Bangkok. Sadly no pictures here because I did not want to get the phone trashed and soggy.

My colleagues gave me a big surprise for my birthday... not one, not 2 but 3! OMG... happiest day of this year, yet... will explain more later.

Day 55- 3rd day and also the last day of Songkran. Thai Colleagues took us to other provinces to endure the final day of water splashing. I took TONS of photos here to showcase the madness (In a good way). ;-)

Please stay tune for pix of the above events.

Take care. *Hugs*

Bangkok 2008 Day 44: Boat Dinner at Dairy Queen Riverside Restaurant

I cannot believe it that it's been more than a month of stay in lovely Bangkok. Upon our return from a short trip back to Malaysia, we had dinner plans made with the Satyam team who are working at the TOT client site.

A member of the team was serving his last day at the client site so I guess the opportunity for a get together was either then or never.

The restaurant we were headed is called: Dairy Queen Riverside Restaurant. Which offers a wide variety of local/foreign cuisine and you can take them all up into a boat/mini cruise, eat and be merry while delighting at the nice evening scenery by the Chao Praya river.

Details of the restaurant:

Dairy Queen Riverside (แดรี่ควีนริมน้ำ) 27/4 Mu 3, Rattanathibet Road at the foot of Phra Nang Klao Bridge, Tel: 0 2921 8670-5 (Daily Dinner Cruises from Phra Nangklao bridge (North of Chao Praya) to Sang Hi Bridge (South of Chao Praya), departure time at 8 pm. ; B 90/person and B100 /person on Friday and Saturday

We left Chaang Wattana at about 6pm and headed north of Bangkok to the Nonthaburi province.

Chaang Wattana, very looooooooooooooooooooooong and busy highway.

Entrance to the restaurant.

Some info, showing the various sceneries to take note of while the boat sails south of the Chao Praya river.

Lots of prawns/sea food offered.

Frozen crabs, lai liu ha (Pissing prawns) etc...

The restaurant on the pier.

One of the boats ready to set sail.

Close view of the outer hull. By the way, this boat comes equiped with karoke station.

Notice an elephant head in front of the boat. Fake one of course.

Our boat. It's no where as beautifully decorated as the one above on the outside. But it certainly is more spacious.

If not mistaken this is the Phra Nangklao bridge. Start check point. We had to do a u-turn to travel south.

The team.

Some other riverside pier restaurant.

Lol... cannot remember what this bridge is called.

Neither can I identify this...

Err... not sure what modern temple this is. Not even the Thai colleagues can tell... Prolly not so famous.

While sailing south. We could see the Grand Palace on the left. Very beautifully lid at night.

Overtaking some other cruise. I recalled me and 2 other colleagues yelled out greetings to them. And they responded! Marvelous moment.

Finally, our end point is when we reached Wat Arun (On the right hand side- Marvelous piece of architecture). The boat will stop the engine, letting the current take us a little further South. Then it's the U-turn back to where we came from.

On our way back, we had a better view of the Grand palace.

The entire boat ride took almost 2 hours plus. It was quite fun, the food was great, price was great. Company was great.

I would definitely recommend this trip.

Bangkok Updates (As of 13th April 2008)

Hi all,

I've updated the blog with following entries. More to come:

Bangkok 2008 Day 9: Visit to Emporium

Bangkok 2008 Day 10 - Day 28: A Move to Misery Street

Bangkok 2008 Day 11: China Town/Siam Paragon

Bangkok 2008 Day 17: Sightseeing at Ayutthaya City

Take care guys. Love ya! =)

Bangkok 2008 Day 11: China Town/Siam Paragon

Due to moving to the lousy place on Day 10 and feeling very unsettled. I didn't want to travel very far on Day 11. Originally the plan was to head to Ayutthaya today. But knowing that the trip might wear us out and we had to work the next day, we settled for a closer sightseeing- Hence China Town.

Chinatown is not far from Soy 3. Took us only 20 minutes to get there by cab.

We stopped at the main street. Looks like Hong Kong's Wong Kok street (According to my colleague).

A Chinese temple nestled in one end of the main street. There were prayer sessions going on that time.

A very cute phone booth with some Chinese take to it.

A HUGE entrance way/gate into the main street. Though it's located atop a round about.

We walked towards the direction where all the shops/stalls are located. Reminds me of when I am watching Hong Kong series. If you notice there are a lot of sharks fin/birds nest restaurants here.

I love the architecture of this building.

We came across this stall (operated by an old couple) selling Wan Tan Mee. It cost about 30 Baht a plate. Pretty expensive considering the portion's very small. Though the wan tan is nice, according to colleagues. I wouldn't know because I am allergic to prawns.

I think I had 3 bowls that time. ekekkekeke... not so discipline am I? I was lectured by one colleague. She told me that we could try out other places later on. Nice to have a substitute mommy whenever I go to remind me when I am over-eating. =P

There's something fascinating about the look of this building.

Across the main street there are a number of gold smith/jewelry shops. An in each of these shops there are A LOT of people. I am guessing that the shops are having Sales going on.

After nearly 2 hours of walking and searching for a place to eat. The colleagues settled for this one. One wanted to have sharks fin and the other bird's nest. I just tried one dessert but didn't finish it because it was too sweet.

Bird's nest on sale.

Market place in one street alley. Lots and lots of food!

Sheer number of people... it's super hard trying to get across.

After strolling in China town, we headed for SIAM area. My roomie wanted to have a haircut and we found this Salon next to the SIAM BTS station. Cost 350 Baht, including styling.

Then it was off to Siam Paragon for dinner.

There's a nice space between SIAM Paragon and SIAM Discovery Center. Nice place to hang out in the evening.

Interior of SIAM paragon

One floor below the cineplex.

Cds! Bookstores! etc...

That's about all. There was friction going on between 2 colleagues that night. And obviously I didn't quite like how one behaved. Pissed me off. I guess have to live with this crap throughout my stay in Bangkok.

That pretty much summed up the day.

Bangkok 2008 Day 9: Visit to Emporium

Another back dated log.

I recalled that on my first trip to Bangkok, we did pass by Emporium (Which locates on Soy 24).

After a hard day's work we decided to check out the place.

Emporium is located just next door to the Phom Phrong BTS station (Which in turns is one stop away from Nana BTS station headed towards the On Nut end-station).

From outside it looks like a small coliseum which is super cute. Brightly lid advert posters on the outer walls.

Looks pretty fancy huh from the outside? It is after all a mini version of Siam Paragorn (A high class HUGE shopping mall).

Walking out of Phom Phrong BTS station

Up to Emporium... With Shaky hands.

I like the setting with greens. Soothes the soul.

Looks pretty luxurious huh? =P

The food arena. They have a lot of food here. Located on the top floor.

The food court. Looks more like a library huh? =P Very serene/cozy feel to it. Love it.

Emporium has pretty much everything here. They have kinokuniya bookstore also. It's much smaller than Siam Paragorn to be honest. But it's convenient. Very near the place we are staying now (Bally's)- Walking distance (15 minutes tops). And there's even a cute cinema housing multiple theaters.

Now I know that after work hours I could just head to Emporium for a movie instead of traveling to Central (In which most of the time is jammed up).

There's also a HUGE park in between the place we stay and Emporium. Good place to get exercise.
